LIFETIME CLIMATE CALCULATOR

Preventing the looming climate disaster is going to take both governmental and individual action. Politicians have repeatedly proven they’re unwilling to make hard decisions to curb emissions. So relying only on politicians is dangerous and foolish. You’ll find that when you become more green yourself, you’ll be more inclined to pressure politicians to make everyone do their share. It’s a win win. All of us need to step up as much as we can.

Welcome to the first ever lifetime carbon calculator. Almost everything we’ve spent money on in our lives generated carbon. Growing food, mining raw materials, manufacturing products, shipping, warehouses, stores, offices, services, electronics, homes, schools, restaurants and myriad other things use energy and generate carbon.

So spending is a close proxy for carbon emissions, and is an easy way to get a fairly accurate measure of how much we’ve emitted. Once we know that, we can take steps towards making our lifetimes climate neutral in various ways.

Most people during their lives have several years in a row of similar income, then they switch jobs and have another similar amount for many years, and so forth. So our calculator is designed to allow you to do either whole groups of years or individual years.
